64 Hexagrams, 4,096 Possible Readings

Every reading starts from one of these 64 hexagrams, but no two readings are really the same. Each of the six lines in a cast can land as a stable Yin, a stable Yang, or a "changing" line actively transforming into its opposite - four possible states per line. Across six lines, that's 4⁶ = 4,096 distinct combinations: the same 64 starting hexagrams, each carrying one of 64 different patterns of changing lines.
